Vladivostok Romance

image

Vladivistok, all dressed up after an APEX summit last year, feels to me like an Auckland and Paris swirl ice cream!

It is green and breezy, curls in and out of the sea and looks out on an horizon that stretches with possibility.

Couples cannoodle on door steps, in archways and among leafy branches. The men are strapping and the women… well, inspired!

If you are not in a couple, you are likely to be happily strolling and giggling with friends or on the phone with a flirtateous or wistful look in your eye.

Occasionally a sailor goes by.

An older lady with secrets to tell slides veiled into a church.

This love affair is set against early 1900’s European buildings, golden domed churches, seaside promenades and night-lit fountains.

The sun is shining and so is Vladivostok.

I order a double cone, with chocolate topping.

It looks nice- not at all like the descriptions I read about when my father travelled there. I guess they have improved it a bi!
