Harbin Heaven!

wpid-20130822_1550030.jpgThis is a town I could live in. Built largely by Russian and Jewish immigrants… the old town is opulent grand European style buildings,  synagogues,  mosques, parks and museums full of pictures of the happy, prosperous, fashionable and roaring 1900’s, tens, twenties and thirties.  This town was a stylish Paris of the East!

I spent a happy week here just being. I practice reading the Russian street and shop signs, and in old newspaper ads in museums, ready for the real thing… Heaven.
